Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) - Terrain features GM's first application of Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) technology. ANC is standard on all Terrains equiped with a 4-cylinder engine to counteract audible harmonics created from the tunning of the engine for optimal fuel economy. ANC uses microphones to detect sopunds inside the vehicle and sends counteracting sound waves through the audio system's speakers, ensuring a quiet driving experience at almost all vehicle speeds.

Baffle packages in A-pillars and other hollow areas retard airbone noise.

Roof anti-flutter material is applied at five locations around the roof to eliminate sound resonance.

5-layer acoustic headliner isolates sound.

Composite wheel house liners block road noise.

Double isolated engine cradle reduces engine noise and vibration.

Composite cam covers and other measures futher reduce engine noise and vibration.
